Peter J. Wiernicki is a principal in the Rockville, Maryland law firm of Joseph, Reiner & Wiernicki, P.C. Admitted in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, his practice emphasizes adoption law, the law of assisted reproductive technologies (ART), education law, children's issues, and litigation.

Mr. Wiernicki is a member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys, a national association of attorneys with experience in the field of adoption law. He has served on the Academy's Board of Trustees and also as a member, and panel chair, for the Academy's Board of Grievances and Discipline. Mr. Wiernicki served as co-chair for the Academy's 2005 mid-year conference which focused on the state of the law and ART. Mr. Wiernicki is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and has also served on the national Board of RESOLVE.

Writing frequently on the topics of adoption and assisted reproductive technologies, Mr. Wiernicki's articles have appeared in Adoptive Families Magazine, Fertility Today and Family Building Magazine.

Mr. Wiernicki is a graduate of Bucknell University and received his law degree in 1986 from the University of Baltimore. His interest in adoption law began in 1987 with his service as a U.S. Navy Judge Advocate during which he provided legal assistance to Navy and Marine Corps service members. Mr. Wiernicki has served as an instructor for Virginia continuing legal education programs on adoption and the role of the guardian ad litem, and has assisted in the training of court personnel. Mr. Wiernicki is an active speaker on adoption and assisted reproductive technologies before support groups and health outreach programs. He has appeared on several occasions on the Montgomery County Bar Association cable television program "Law School for the Public", participating in programs on both adoption law and legal issues surrounding assisted reproductive technologies.
