About Toby Solomon, Esquire

Toby Solomon practices in the area of family law and is committed to enhancing the public image of adoption and effecting legislation to protect the rights of birth mothers, adoptees and adoptive parents. Ms. Solomon has been involved with adoption since 1984. Her philosophy is that each person is special and should be treated with respect and understanding. She has given numerous seminars and frequently lectures and writes about adoption.

Ms. Solomon founded and chaired the Adoption Subcommittee of the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association from its inception for a period of eleven years until the Committee accomplished the task of writing amendments to existing adoption legislation. The Amendments brought forth a variety of new concepts to the adoption process in New Jersey. Ms. Solomon was the recipient of the New Jersey State Bar Association Distinguished Legislative Service Award for 1993 for her work on the Amendments.

Ms. Solomon was recently designated an Angel in Adoption by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute in September of 2008. Each year, Members of Congress are given the opportunity to select individuals, families or organizations from their home state, who have demonstrated a commitment to improving the lives of children in need of permanent loving homes. The Angels in Adoption Program, the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute's signature public awareness program, provides an opportunity to all Members of Congress to honor the good work of their constituents who have been recognized for their efforts in adoption and foster care advocacy. Congressman Donald Payne nominated Ms. Solomon.

Ms. Solomon is a member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys and has been certified as an adoption mediator by the Academy. She also co-founded and chaired the Children's Rights Section.
