About Toby Solomon, Esquire

Toby Solomon, Esq. practices in the area of family law and is committed to enhancing the public image of adoption and effecting legislation to protect the rights of birth mothers, adoptees and adoptive parents. Her adoption practice consists of representation of birth parents and adoptive parents in private and agency adoptions, intrastate and interstate adoptions, step-parent adoptions, re-adoptions, same-sex and contested adoptions, and other related matters.

Ms. Solomon received her undergraduate degree from Ohio State University, Masters Degree from Columbia University, and graduated cum laude from Seton Hall University School of Law. She chaired the Adoption Subcommittee of the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association from its inception for a period of ten years until the Committee accomplished the task of amending the existing adoption legislation. The Amendments brought forth a variety of new concepts to the adoption process in New Jersey. Ms. Solomon was the recipient of the New Jersey State Bar Association Distinguished Legislative Service Award for her work on the Amendments. Ms. Solomon also created and chaired the Children’s Rights Committee.

Ms. Solomon completed a Program of Instruction for Lawyers in mediation at Harvard Law School. She has been certified as an Adoption Mediator by the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys and is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Matrimonial Attorney and as an Economic Mediator by the Superior Court of New Jersey. Ms. Solomon is a member of the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the Essex County Bar Association, a senior editor of the New Jersey Family Lawyer and a frequent lecturer and author in family law, adoption and related matters.
